Got the call today, trying to figure out what kind of scam it is? When they were suppose to connect me to their senior advisor, the phone went dead! They had my phone # , address.
Got this call on 2/23. Was asked if I was sitting down because I was getting ready to receive some exciting news ! Was told that I was the second place winner of $500,000 from a popular sweepstakes. I was also asked for my address , my marital status and age. I told them that they should already have my address since they knew everthing else ! With this reply, they did tell me what my address is. I was also asked about which accounts I dealt with at the bank and approximatley the money amount ! I asked them what did this have to do with anything if they were mailing me a check !!!!! They suddenly hung up when I kept asking them questions ...
Well first of all , I never entered a sweepstakes ! My check is suppose to be delivered today , 2/25 , between 9 & 11. If this is not a scam ,,,,,,, I'll let the whole world know !!!!! How would they like it if this was played on them or their families........These type of people should burn in HELL !!!!
I got the same call on 02/23 from a female. They claimed to be an attorney's office representing Publisher's Clearing House. Before they had introduced themselves, however, they had first asked me if this was Lyn Bal when I answered their call, and pretended to be trying to pronounce my surname, and then asked, "How do you pronounce that?", and I told them (sigh!). I now realize, after the fact, that they must have had one of my email addresses in which I only use a shortened abbreviation of my surname (Bal). But, anyways, after they next introduced themselves and said I had won a lot of money, had I received my blue winner's envelope in the mail recently? I told them, "No, I haven't received any thing, nor doubt that I would have, as I never enter any PCH drawings. Is this another scam, because someone just called me last week trying to scam me on something else?". She said, "Oh", and hung up.
Last week it was someone claiming to be a company representing Microsoft and that they had evidence that someone had been trying to hack my computer. They asked if I was at my computer now and I said, "No, I'm still in bed. You woke me up".
They asked if I could get to my computer and log on and I said, "No, I wouldn't be able to until late that afternoon." I told them I would call them back at that time and asked for their company name, address and telephone number. They gave me a Microsoft address and telephone number in London, England (U.K.).
My mom got the same call about the 1/2 million dollars and never got it. There should be a law against people scamming older people. It's not a joke and it's not funny.
