I returned the call and said I want to know what the he'll this about. In a broken English voice I was asked if my phone number was such and such and I said you already know it is. He asked me to verify my address an Birth date and I said no this is just Adam and you are the only one that could be in trouble. He said you need to verify this and I told him NO I DON'T YOU ARE FULL OF S**T AND JUST SCAMMING. Ok you will be going to jail and I was laughing as he disconnected.

They called and left a message that I had a "scrutiny" against my name with the IRS and that I must call back immediately or "this would be taken against me in a court of law". It was an automated call and obviously the same scam just a different play on words this time. The IRS does not do this. In dealing with my tax issues for various reasons for elderly parents, estate or whatever the IRS always sends multiple letters and gives you information to help you solve your problem. They do try to always help rectify the situation before court is ever an option.  You can always contact the IRS if ever in doubt or contact a local law office and inquire what to do if you are ever in doubt before giving out your information. You can find out first if it's legit and then proceed. Never take a random caller like this at their word. It's only as good as the script they are reading from.
