Picked up and it sounded like a young girl. She asked for me by name, and said she was calling to remind me to vote. I said thank you to rush her off. And she said, yeah, we're calling to remind you to reguster to vote. I said thank you and she said "OK, the deadline us tomorrow".
It sounded more like a bored freshman prank calling people than an actual campaign to remind people to vote. She didn't give her name or company/group name and she gave me no info on how to actually register to vote.
She didn't say she was affiliated with any candidate.
The only part that worried me is her knowing my name. Otherwise, I'd cough it up to some Hugh school or freshmen girls prank calling strangers.
Like Adam, I called back and got the voicemail for Bernie Sanders' campaign, whether it's legit or not. (I find it very suspect that his campaign would try to trick people into picking up rather than flying under its own colors, given the high level of support at the moment. Wouldn't mind if the number identified itself as the BS campaign, but I never answer calls for which I don't know the number. I suspect a scam, trying to raise money in BS's name. Left a simple message: TAKE THIS NUMBER OFF YOUR LIST.
Postscript: I just left a message on Sanders' website complaining about the method—that if these calls were legit, they should identify themselves upfront. If not, he owes it to his supporters to tell them not to be taken in.
