Got the same call threatening arrest and appearance define the magistrate. Decided to look up the number instead and found this. Thank you all for posting here. Saved me time and thankfully money.
I had the exact same call from 917-639-5592. The man named Max Jordan said he is with the IRS federal government he is the investigation officer and if I don't settle that the sheriff will be at my door to hand cuff me to take me to jail unless I settle payment today and they have found error with my taxes and I need to pay $1,245.00 or go to jail because there is a warrant out for my arrest if I don't pay. He asked me some questions and then transfer me to his supervisor Cami Greg they had a strong foreign accent, Cami said this is the last day and must be paid today. I am suppose to call her back in 5 hours to pay $311.00 for a payment plan. It sounds like a SCAM to me official sounding - "Warning!! it's definitely an IRS tax scam. They do sound like they are overseas somewhere at a call center. He asked me if I had been in touch with the police? He provided me with a warrant ID number and told me that if I wanted more info about the warrant because this is their last time calling. This is definitely a scam and I would suggest that you do NOT verify any information they ask you to verify. They do ask a lot of questions
