Said that my student loans were flagged as eligible for consolidation by the US Dept of Education, but no one in our house has any student loans. Scam - blocked.
Some people use their phones for non-personal uses (business/volunteering), so when they see a local phone number, it can be legit, and answering the phone can be the difference between getting a job and not. Most of the time my local calls are legit, but occasionally ones like this will get through.
