Absolutely correct. I just got the Ariz call. I never answer the phone unless I know who is calling. Legitimate callers leave messages, scammers don't.
Several calls in the last week at various hours, with a caller ID of "Arizona F.O.P." or "AZ F.O. POL". Number is a landline in Page AZ--not known for a Fraternal Order of Police headquarters. No message left. Based on previous messages here saying that FOP doesn't do telephone solicitation, have to presume this is a scam.
Definitely a scam. Just got a call from this number (928-212-4763) purporting to be AZ F.O. POL, and I got another call just 40 minutes ago from 602-737-0943, also purporting to be AZ F.O. POL. Last week the number was 928-212-4765, and Caller ID said ARIZONA F.O.P. Don't know if these are all from the same dirtbag, or from a bunch of different dirtbags, but a dirtbag is a dirtbag is a dirtbag!!
Missed the call overnight at our business. These "police officers" scams are getting totally out of hand! I work in a business with cop families in it, including myself, and they still bother us on a daily basis.
If you call the number back you will hear a distinct 'blup blup' noise (sounds like a water drip). This is a Skype # and almost always utilized by the _M_a_d_a_r_c_h_o_d_ scammers in India!
They call almost every day with different numbers. I answered the other day and the guy wouldn't quit talking as I was telling him NO. I hung up and they are calling back under a different number.
