I got a call, when my answering machine answered it, it went to dial tone and rang like I called it. Then the recorded voice said "if you want to make a call please hang up...." I didn't make a call.
Called, didn't recognize the phone number, so let it ring to voicemail. Left a pre-recorded voice message -
You are now qualified under a recent bill passed in congress, called "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act", permanently reducing your electric bill up to 60% through the U.S. Renewal Energy Program. The U.S. Renewable Energy Program will stop the 14% rate increase on your electricity bill coming soon. Press "1" now if you are a homeowner and are paying more than $150 per month for electricity. Press "1" now to stop the electricity bill increase coming soon. Again, press "1" now if you are a homeowner and pay more than $150... <end message>"
I keep getting the same voice message calling from multiple other numbers. I've tried blocking them and of course they call in under some other number.
Didn't answer the call, but Caller ID said AZ ENERGY CO. I googled variations of "Arizona energy company" and just got the usual URLs for various legitimate companies with similar names or various energy companies in Arizona, but no company called AZ Energy Co. Just another scammer to add to the growing list of asshats!!
