Very tricky in that the caller ID just says "LOCAL CALL AREA" with no area code on the Caller ID. It just reads 237-6660 so you'll think its somebody that is really local.
These are telemarketers trying to solicit funds for the FOP. However, most of the money goes to them and very little to the actual FOP. If you want to donate money to the FOP, or any other organization, you should give it directly to the organization. These people call on behalf of the FOP and claim to be the FOP - then a week later the same person calls claiming to be with the Fire Fighters, or some other service organization.
DO NOT DONATE MONEY TO THEM - DO IT DIRECTLY TO THE ORGANIZATION ITSELF. They need every penny you donate - not the small percentage that they give to the organization on your behalf.
The fact that they disguise their name and number on called ID should tell you that they're not being completely honest with you! They're just hired telemarketers and have NO OFFICIAL ASSOCIATION with the FOP or any other service organization.
We just moved to Colorado and luckily my phone has a DND function so I rarely answer the phone, but noticed this number on our caller ID saying Fort Collins CO. There was no message left.
