Identified herself as a paid rep for breast cancer patients. Asked to send documents to guarantee a donation to their fund. When I said that I don't donate to any charity without looking at their SEC filings to make sure where the money goes, she pressed harder. Obnoxious. I would not donate to them after that, even if the filings were reasonable.
Just called me before 7:30 a.m. asking for "Francine",told her wrong number. "Oh maybe you can help me,I'm calling on behalf of breast cancer awareness...I hung up...looked them up online and everyone says they are "UNSAFE"....
They ask for Gerald (or some other name) so they can claim they don't cold call when they finally get sued. The national do not call list is a joke as scammers just ignore it. The best thing you can do is block the number and move on, but even this is pointless as the call comes in from a new, spoofed number every time. Never donate to a charity when they cold call you, even if it's legit. You're better off hanging up and doing your research before parting with your money. A majority of these calls steal all the money or only give a small fraction to the actual charity. It's a problem with no solution in the near future I'm afraid.
