BJD, you probably can turn off the first ring on your Panasonic. On mine, it's MENU, #173, arrow to "First ring off," and "save." Check the call block section of your instruction booklet. For my model, it's on page 46.
This number calls my land line at least four times per week. I usually don't answer or hang up immediately but the past two times I pressed 1 to "take advantage" of their offer just so I could speak with some one. Both times it hung up on me immediately! Why bother calling???
That is good to know as I when I set it up I just used the defaults.I have a TG 6841 which will block 250 #s. It is indeed #173 that quiets things down considerably. Thanks. Since my #'s blocked count is at 98 as of today on average probably block 2-5 calls per day. I expect January and Feb and March to be quite busy with not only the card scammers but the IRS scam and the fake computer virus scammers will ramp up as well. The Rachel of card service never takes a month off they are looking for gullible marks constantly and almost daily.
Caller ID reads 'Info Survey", they have called several times this week, I did answer once and the message said I would get a free trip some where for free if I did "a short survey", I did not go any further with the call just hung up.
Since the caller is a crook, they do not care about your "request to be removed" - to them, it is a confirmation that they have reached a working number, that is answered by a person.
Better still, the person is gullible enough to believe the hitting the #3, or 4, or 9 Planck's Constant will do any good at all. The GOLD Award goes to people who will return calls to unknown numbers and unknown names.
You want more calls? This is how you get more calls.
