Ok, so at first I thought it was my Obachan ( Japanese grandmother) but then by what she said I knew it was not my Obacha. She ased for my mother by first name, my mom wasnt home. she asked "when will be the bast time to call?" I responded "I don't know." so she then replied with "Okay I will call back later."
Next time she calls I'm just going to answer it and begin speaking Japanese, that would mess her up SOO BAD hahaha.
Been getting several calls from this number, and for the first time today, they left a voicemail (after repeat-calling 3 times in a row). The message said they were named Ash and claimed to be my "um... account manager for the, uh, your online business." Seemed to be very anxious for me to answer the phone and said he'd call back in 10 minutes.. but did not. He wanted to "verify" my information (this is code for an identity theft scam).
i actually DO have an online business with my phone number registered to it, and know the people i work with quite well enough to state that neither "Ash" nor this 971-208-9936 number are ever to be a part of it..! So if you receive calls from this number and also run an online business, do NOT return the call and just delete the message (if they ever leave you one). Better yet, if your carrier allows, block this number.
I hope you don't rely on the Federal Government to correct this problem! They do not have to show a profit for any of their efforts, which gives them no incentive to protect our phone calls, Try Google Voice. Voice will block all calls you want them to block when you ring both your personal phone and your Google number concurrently. Google works great - they've blocked this number for me.
Did not recognize the number so did not pick up. My answering machine did, and the person on the other end did not seem to get that it was an answering machine and must have said "hello????" about 10 times before hanging up.
