I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TOLD A 900 SERIES AREA CODE WOULD PROBABLY BE SOMEONE OUTSIDE THE US TRYING TO GET SOMEONE TO ANSWER THEIR CALL AND THIS WOULD GIVE THEM SOME KIND OF ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION AND CALLING FEATURES.
The problem with the FTC's "Do Not Call" list is it excludes political survey groups. This company is doing a political survey - although the real purpose is a time share scam. Congress knew that people demanding something be done about the excessive calls from telemarketers also did not want political calls either. But the intentionally excluded political calls for their own gain. I think it would be a good idea to email to congressional reps about this specific issue and demand that they extend the "Do Not Call" list to political calls.
BTW - In an earlier post I referred multiple times to the FCC "Do Not Call" list - it is actually the FTC. I have seen some post scattered throughout asking how to register: you can register for the list at https://donotcall.gov/.
Basically, Cynthia, not much can be done unless YOU want to hire an attorney & go after them. The so-called 'Do Not Call' list is useless, all that is is a way of collecting complaints so if your county DA wants to go after these people, he can. How often does that happen? A caller can be fined $11,000 each time they call a number on that list. I checked into it last year, and since the 'Do Not Call' law came in, there's only been just over $3 million in fines. great piece of law, eh?
