Same heavy east indian accented woman called my wife today. She could hardly understand her, but she asked about our Windows computer.... The big laugh, we have a Mac! They are up to something....
I never say hello first if it's an unknown number and rarely answer - unless I'm really board and feel like messing with someone. Sometimes I'll answer in a kids voice or a jiberish made up language (that's my favorite). Half the time, they don't even wait for a hello - they just start hammering away with one of their scripts - so rude - all you can do is hang up. I've been getting alot of strange scam calls recently. I have clearly graduated to the sucker list. Anyway, I knew from the area code that it wasn't Canadian so as usual, I didn't say a word -- and neither did they. That's it, end of story. They hung up! I'm sure they'll call back again. I think I'll try some Alien Swahili mixed in with some clicking sounds :)
i got a call just now at 215pm pst, same caller id home security so i answer and its the indian guy with a accent i cant understand a word he's saying, he says he wants to order or something, i said who are you trying to call, i said u got the wrong number and hang up. if he was trying to hack my computer i wouldnt know cause i cant understand a word he's saying. i like the clicking sound thing though from john, i might do that too lol.
Be aware with this one.
I am in Canada and I just got call from that number. (It is after 10pm) I did not pick up, but my panasonic machine did not answer. They must have hacked by answering machine, well at east they tried, because they were able to redial last number! My friend that i called last, called me back right after 971-217-9508 call and said that i just called him.
We had someone do the same thing at work.
Judging from other descriptions, I am guessing if you do pick up call from that number they are giving some BS and pretend they actually wanted something from you.
Received call from this number. The caller was female and spoke with an Asian or Indian accent, very fast. She was in a room with a lot of other people, both male and female, all talking loudly, and many if not most of them were speaking with the same accent....in other words, straight from a "boiler room." I told her that I had special equipment on my line that could trace anything, including those who use fake caller ID numbers. She dared me to prove it, and I told her I had to go because I had the police on another line. For some reason, she hung up. Because of certain characteristics of the connection, I believe that the call may have really originated in a foreign country, India most likely, or perhaps the Phillipines.
Some further possible information. Because of the accent in the voice of the caller, I decided to take a closer look at the number. Now, what appears to be a U.S. number in the caller ID is there...BUT...if you dial it as an international call, that is 011+91 (Country Code for India) +217 ( City Code for Solapur, India) and then any remaining numbers...and yes, telephone numbers in foreign country can range from 4 to 8 digits) then you'd probably get the place. I'd have to take a look at a map to figure out which time zone Solapur, India is in, but in general it's around +16 hours from Pacific time, which means it's about 6 or 7 AM tomorrow morning there.
