Just received a call from the same phone number. I didn't answer the phone because I was on another call but decided to google the phone number because I've been getting calls from a TN number that is trying to scam credit card information from me. Looks like this is another office that is being used..
They start off using a Dialer system to make the calls. That's why there is silence when you first answer the phone. Then it connects to a representative who will hang up on you if you start asking questions and/or state for them to remove you name off their call list. I've reported the TN number but continue to receive weekly phone calls. I'm now going to my cell phone provider to block both phone numbers. What a pain!
I just got this call too, said it was from "card services" . Was a message offering a reduced rate on a card, and the operator started asking me for some credit and personal info. I asked what card this was in reference too, amd she asked for more info, so I said I couldn't give her any personal information unless I knew who was calling, or what card it was in reference to, and she smugly said "bye bye!" and hung up on me. Sounds like a phishing call to me.
The only way to beat the "folks" is to not answer your phone if you do not recognize the telephone number. If no message is left than you haven't missed anything. If the caller leaves a message, then you control the situation, not the scammers.
Same thing happened to me today. When the live person answered and asked "Are you interested in the 6% interest rates" I replied, "Actually, I"m on the do not call list and..." [CLICK]. They hung up on me. Grrrr. I called back to get this straightened out and it automatically hangs up. I believe it does so for all incoming calls.
I've received 2 calls from this # ( 971-220-1011 ). I am on the DO NOT CALL list so, how did they get my # & WHY are they calling me. I WILL contact an attorney if it doesn't S ~ T ~ O ~ P ! ! ! I've also been receiving calls from several other unknown #'s. ( 503-468-5987,661-388-1670, 567-225-4427, 316-518-0709 ) I DO NOT answer if I don't recognize the # but, it's still VERY worrysome knowing that people are able to get access to your cell #, even when you're # is registered on the DO NOT CALL list. I'm going to call my cell provider as well & try to put a stop to this b**ls**t ! !
