These people are CRIMINALS. I just spoke to AT&T (bought SBC) annoyance call center, and they can't do anything. You need to report this to the Federal Trade Commission, donotcall.gov, or 877-382-4357
Or, you can make a complaint to your local law enforcement.
Believe it or not, you cannot believe the number that shows on your caller ID. It may not be in Oregon, it may not be that actual number originating the call, it could be made via VOIP on the internet with forged caller ID information. The only way to trace the criminals is to let the FTC do it.
Meanwhile, don't give them ANY information. They may know some of your information, but don't let them trick you into confirming or supplying additional information. Don't be a victim of indentity theft.
When I pressed '1' to get taken off the list some clown tried to tell me that (1.) Visa and Mastercard had given them my number - When I asked him which card or provider he had no answer, then he proceded to tell me (2.) that they could call because my card provider, who he couldn't identify, had authorized it and that Visa & MasterCard were all one big company and that I didn't really know who my credit cards were with. What a blockhead. I have contacted every card company's toll free privacy line and opted out of everything I could so this is a complete B.S. scam. The Caller ID I got was SkipTel, which is probably their company name for today. If you can block the #.
Got a call from this number at 11:12 am today. Same speach as everyone else. I tryed calling the number back and it said disconnected number. From what I understand about the National Do Not Call Registry is that they stop calls from selling something to you. this recording wasnt selling anything so thats how they get around the law.
