Harbor Front Acquisitions LLC, is a debt collector for payday loans. They brought the loan. They left a message saying that they were going to serve papers and if I called them back they would stop the process. I spoke to them as per my rights I asked them to provide in writing the name of the original creditor and the debt validation letter. I provided them with a email so we'll see if they follow through. But you also need the following things that they are not allowed to do:
What a debt collector CANNOT do:
• Use deceptive practices. For example, threaten you with arrest or trick you into paying for collection calls.
• Use obscene language.
• Call you at work after you tell them that your boss does not approve these calls.
• Deny you the right to receive a written notice (within five days after your first phone conversation) that would tell you how much you owe and the name of the creditor that says you owe the money. If you do not receive the notice within five days, call the collection agency and ask for its address and fax number. Then, send a letter to the collector noting its failure to send you the required notice. As a minimum, make a note in your file.
• Refuse to give its name and the name of the collection company when asked.
• Put a debt on your credit report if you file a dispute. It must validate the debt by obtaining a verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment from the creditor before continuing their collection efforts. The results of the investigation must be mailed to you
I have blocked this company from calling me before but they have no switched numbers. It's a pre recorded voice mail saying they are harbor front acquisitions llc. Googling this company there is VERY little info what I do find say they are NY based, but the phone number is from Texas which is a red flag right there. They leave no info about me no name, nothing that they have 'legal documentation for your name and address that requires your immediate attention. a call back is required today to report you have been in compliance.' It's a scare tactic. If it was legit they would have at least said this message is for ____ (insert my name here)____ Also they say this number is their office number but it's listed as a cell phone on phone number lookup sites. Block this number and ignore it.
I have received several calls from this 'Agency' about settling a >$500 debt established through check cashing service back in 2012. I was no where near the check cashing place on the date described. They are an entity for a debt collection agency, according to the small print located at the bottom of the e-mail attachment. I told them to send me the form with my signature on it ( as proof) & that I will be waiting for it. They're comment was that I wasn't going to co-operate. That's how the phone call ended!
Legitment? I don't know for sure. I have a feeling it's a scare tactic. What bothers me is they obtained my birthdate, social security & residence addresses.
I have gotten multiple calls from this company, Harborfront Acquisitions LLC, from multiple numbers. They always leave a prerecorded message for my fiance, saying his first name and spelling his last, in regards to legal documents regarding a specific case number. I have called them back, and all they will tell me is that my phone number was used as an emergency contact and that the call is regarding a pending legal matter in the county we live in. Their website, http://www.harborfrontacq.com/, does say that they are NY based, but the call originated from Texas as reported before.
I received a call that they were coming to my home to served me court papers from the "criminal division:, but I can call the mediation before the end of the day at that number. Same number. I live in Texas so at first I thought maybe it was legit, but criminal? So I decide to google the number instead.
