Call blocker might be of some help. Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd. Or where there is no caller ID.
I have received a few calls from this number. They know my husband's name - if I say he isn't home, they ask if I am the lady of the house. He sounds very strange and I think this is some sort of voice recognition software as he doesn't sound like a real person and he always takes quite a bit of time to respond to my questions. He said he was with the National Trooper Assn or something like that. I work for the State Highway Patrol here in Texas and have never hear of a national organization.
Good news though - if you call the number back, listen to the spiel, they will give you the option to press 2 to be placed on their Do Not Call list. It seems these companies have to offer that now. If you get a robo-call - wait to see if there is an option to be put on the Do Not Call list. Or ask the person who is calling you, if you get a real person. They are sly though and some will hang up before you have a chance to ask so they don't have to put you on the list. I usually answer now so I can make the request first thing and then they have to stop calling me. Otherwise they just keep on calling.
Answered the phone and a mans voice came on asking for my partner by first name. I said no one here by that name and then he said in a stern voice "is the man or woman of the house available"....i just hung up
