Got a call from Kim with TOP. The number was 972 503-0555. I recently moved to Dallas and have been on several interviews with legit companies and with a good recruiter in Dallas. Anyhow, Kim seemed a little vague about what they did. I asked if there were specific industries that they specialize in. Her response was that they work with over 200 industries! I smelled a rat.

I have to say that it is a clever name, google "top Dallas recruiting firm" or any of the variants and you will be inundated with articles and reviews of every recruiter in the market. However, TOP is nowhere to be found. Did a quick check of her email address, [email protected] and went to the site. I am surprised that anyone really falls for this. It is so vague that it is hard to take it seriously.

She sent me an email confirming our meeting. It was signed Kim H. and did not list the name of the "executive" I was to meet. I replied to dear Ms. H. and asked for more information about the firm and the name of the person I was to meet. At this point I'm just curious about how they continue the game. She replied with another vague explanation of their services and gave me the name of Larry Spradling. The assistant is now Kim Holleyhead.

I might go to the meeting just to get more information and post it as a warning to others. This  is a despicable practice. Scamming job seekers and the unemployed is about as low as it gets. Luckily, I am nowhere near desperate for money, but it is a shame that people may fall for this. Kim or kimberly Holleyhead and Larry Spradling should be ashamed of themselves for making a living by taking from the unemployed the unemployed.

I received a call from Kim yesterday.  I did the same as you and found the email address, emailed them and she replied today.

Same vague comments about an executive who wants to learn more about my career goals.  So I found her LinkedIn page and asked her if that was her page.  6 total connections for a recruiter instills less than zero confidence.

We'll see how it goes.  But I'd be interested to hear if haha met with her.

I had the similar experience last week and I was asked $ 5775 for a job of  $100,000, i.e. the double of my present one. After reading the comments here, I sent the following mail today:

Hey Rob,
I found some people from my network who had similar experience that I had with you last week in your office. Some of them had met you and some of them had met Larry and had similar conversations though they were contacted from different phone numbers.
Let's do it the right way and get into a legal contract, where we can include enhanced payments terms to you with a refund the money clause just in case TOP fails to fulfill the promise in the specified period. Reasonable, right?
Before doing the contract documentation, I would also like to request for:
- Tax return of the company for the last 3 years
- CEO's name and his contact #
- Phone #s of three clients that they have been placed in 2011
Regards,
Dr. Sunil Agarwal

Let us see if I get any answer from him, I doubt very much!!!

I went to my meeting, wow they are good at the social aspects of setting people up.  They make sure to dictate that they are very tight schedules so you must be there on time.

The administrative assistances seem to be on a rotating basis either on purpose so too many names don't get out there or they figure out whats going on and take their work somewhere else.

I met with Rob and he's a fast talker.  He made me feel great about every comment I was saying.  Of course I was invited back for the two hour meeting, I was told to bring my spouse.

After the meeting and doing more research I am 99% convinced it's a scam.  I may go to the two hour meeting just to have some fun with them but I doubt it.

Like others say, trust your gut, or make them sign paperwork that says they don't get paid unless you do.
