This is phony baloney. I called back and messed with them for about 10 minutes. I asked them for the court case or docket number, which they provided (obviously fake). They stumbled when I asked which state the case was filed in? The guy on the phone was like... "State? What do you mean?" The scumbag tried to get me to give him my address. I said if you are the IRS, you should know my address. He read a very old address of mine. I stated I have not lived there for years. I have anew address. He then again asked me for it. I refused. He then said the police would be at my house in 45 minutes. I asked how... if they had the wrong address. He said they know where I am. I said I would wait for them. He promptly cursed me and hung up.
It's a scam. They leave the following message: "This call is official final notice from United State treasury. The nature and purpose of this call is to inform you that we have received a legal petition notice concerning a tax fraud against you. Still before the matter goes to federal claims court house or before you gets arrested. Please call immediately on our hotline division number that is 972-924-0863. Make sure you call us as soon as possible." THE IRS DOES NOT CALL YOU.
Received a recorded call stating this was the the IRS and they were taking me to tax court etc. I believe it to be false as they normally mail you prior on any issue. Called IRS to verify issue. I called the number from a different phone and and Indian speaking person answered right away- no phone queuing at all. I did not provide any information. I asked where he was located and he said in Dallas Texas. It was definitely false there would be an automated system answering with a call menu to select different departments. In addition I would be told to call a local office is there was an issue. They said it was likely a scam as well.
