Who called from 9729759576

I am in Australia an get phone calls at five in morning
From 1 ( 972-975-9576) someone in TX USA who is this and why when I answer
They are just repeating numbers

I recieved a call from (972) 975-9576 give me a code. I then recieved a text from the same number asking for the code. Seems like a scam.

This number is used to verify WHATSAPP installation. WHATSAPP is an instant messenger. After installation, it sends a code via text messaging. If fail, the WA calls you.

My mistake..The SMS with code came from 4158154224 in San Francisco. The call from TX.

Got a phone call from 1 ( 972-975-9576) from TX, USA at 20:19. I stay in South Africa, the female voice just repeated a code. But earlier the day I got a sms with a WhatsApp code coming from the number +27 84 000 1200, very strange, don't know what I can do. Very paranoid, definitely a scam.
