Phishing scam saying my credit card had been compromised by online shopping-which I have never done. Calling from India. Do NOT ever give out any part of your credit card number. Hang up and call the number on the back of your card.
I was told by the person from "credit card services" that i had made a $600.00 transfer from my credit card via Western Union to India. I was asked if I was the person who made the transfer. I asked which credit card I supposedly used and then he replied VISA. I told him I don"t have a VISA and he quickly said MasterCard and that his call centre handled both cards. I then told him he was full of crap and he got really angry and that's where it ended. This call came in around 7:45 a.m. which also seemed a bit fishy. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT give any information and call your credit card company using the number on your card or the bank you deal with... same thing should apply when dealing with your government agencies.
I was told the same thing... $600 to India by Western Union with my Visa. I asked which bank and he rhymed off several in a row. Called me at 4:45 am! I told him I don't understand where you're calling from and hung up.
