Same as the experiences of others here on this board. Got 9pm call from this number, ID said "Texas" and when I answered after the second ring, there was no reply on the line.
We have been getting calls from this number, also. No messages left.
Thank you, Pete. Your response is very informative. I actually printed out your response and put it next to my phone to use it when I receive one of those calls that seem to "prickle my intuitions". I plan on researching this issue a little further and developing some "probing questions" for the charitable donation callers.
I have no problem giving when it feels right. For example, Special Olympics calls me regularly, and the reps are always very professional, and on the up and up, stating their charity and purpose within the first two sentences of conversation. But some others are quite vague, and I can tell the difference easily. So when the callers' intentions are clearly fraudulent, I want to confront them about it. They are intruding on our privacy, and asking us for a donation, so we do have the right to ask them some questions, too. Somebody needs to.
Kids Wish Network, Not again those idiots just called 3 months ago same pitch as before, I have had enough with these professional fundraisers esp after asking last time to be removed and them calling back a week later wanting a donation. they never stop or care if your on the DNC. Note to charities give people jobs at your office instead of paying the telemarketers 70% of the donation & have rude and obnoxious people calling for your charity. Also on the special olympics they use a professional fundraiser who collects money and they are NOT in the state they are calling for.
