Says I committed tax fraud. Said no one home to sign for "laters" (letters) when I told him IRS does not call. He said calling now or will send the sherif to put me behind the bars. This is the fraud being committed!!w7p7n

Received a similar message today on the answering machine at home. It freaked out my wife and she called me frantically! The message said you are delinquent on your taxes and legal charges will be taken against you. And must call 202-506-9240 ASAP!
I just called and there was an answering machine saying: You have reached the head quarters of IRS. Leave a message and we will respond to you promptly! :-)
I left a message: " You are full of S&*T".
I am sure if they get a hold of you, the first thing they'll ask is your SSN! Be aware and do not give out your personal info.
Today (May 15,2014), someone by the name of David Banner with an Indian accent and claiming to be from IRS left a message for my wife on our answering machine from (202)506-9240 phone number in Washington D.C., that my wife had been investigated by IRS from tax fraud and that we had not responded to two earlier IRS correspondents. I was shocked to say the least. I called the number back and another Indian accent guy by the name of Jason who claimed to be from IRS told me about the tax fraud related to my wife's tax return. Since the guy was only emphasizing on my wife, I suspected if the claim was genuine since my wife and I prepare our tax return as married, filling joint. The guy threatened with lien on our property and jail time of up to 5 years. When I asked him to send me a document explaining the case, he said that the time had run out and I had only two days to take care of the case. He was claiming that my wife owed IRS a sum of $4,631.85! BTW, the guy also gave me a phony Case # (UK852091). This was a terrifying experience that I ever had encountered. I remember several years ago, there was a missing information in our return for which, IRS contacted us through mail with a clear explanation of the reason. After providing the missing information, the case was closed. I hope our government will track these scam groups down and brings them to justice so that law obeying people like us are not harassed by these scam bags.
got the exact same message (May 30 2014) from David Banner asking for the completely wrong name! Sounded weird/scary/serious, so I called the number back. When I wasn't willing to give out information, David Banner with an extremely heavy accent, told me he was dispatching the police to my house bc I was being uncompliant and harassing them. They had an address (not mine) that they spouted out saying the were sending police there! Does anyone know how to report this number and scam to someone?
