Caller wants me to provide info about my credit cards so they can give me some deal on interest rates -- they say i "qualify" for this deal because of my payment history. Why would i want to discuss my credit cards with a stranger? This is a scam -- they don't know anything about me or my payments or even whether i have any credit cards.
I have a list about as long as yours from this particular caller.
Several weeks ago I decided to speak to someone on the other end and asked him why, if I have touched the 3 button on my phone to no longer receive calls from them, why am i still receiving them. He replied the 3 function (not interested in receiving calls) does not work.
My Caller ID showed this number as Consumer Advocate. They leave a long message on my recorder if I am not around or don't answer and use up valuable message space. They have called me numerous times in the past and each time I have reported them to the Federal Trade Commission. It is a robo caller saying they have monitored my credit cards for the past 6 months and that I can qualify for a zero rate on all my credit cards. To do this and complete the qualifying information I need to press a number and speak to a live person. NOT! What a scam since this message has been used over and over again with different phone numbers and I even check with my credit card company and they confirm it is a scam!
This scammer calls numbers on the national do not call list in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by failing to have an operator on the line when the call is answered, and still further by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. When you do get to an operator, they refuse to provide a physical address and phone number when asked, still further violating the TCPA. Their scam recording states that this is the final offer, but the scammer will call again in as little as half an hour, but not more than a couple of weeks. Their recording states that the victim's accounts have been being monitored and that the victim has been found eligible for 0% interest on all credit card debt. This is clearly a scam, as the first question from the operator is the amount the victim owes on credit cards. Do not provide this scammer with any financial information.
