I got a call and the voice mail stated "The reason for this cal lis to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about this call contact the IRS at 206-201-2542." When I called back a man with a heavy accent answered "IRS". I asked him what this was about and he stated that the IRS has audited my tax records from 2008 and is filing lawsuit. I told him that was strange because I have never received a notice through the mail and this was the first I heard of it. He knew my name, my wife's name and my address. I questioned him as to the validity and he claimed that Monday morning a lawsuit would be filed. This was Saturday. Does the IRS work Saturdays? He seemed in a hurry to hang up. I looked up the number and found all of these complaints on this website. I called him back and he answered the same, "IRS". I told him never to call my number and this was a scam and I am turning him in. He hung up before I could finish.
I received a call to call 206-201-2542 about the lawsuit the IRS was filing against me. I thought it was strange that 1) they were calling me on a Saturday, and 2) I had received absolutely nothing in the mail from the IRS. I came here and see there is a long history for this scam. I'm so glad there are places to check these calls out before you even think it might be legitimate!
I get a recorded call stating a lawsuit is filed against me from the IRS. I knew it was a scam because they DON'T call especially on Saturday. These scammers will call on different numbers, some from bank numbers, just so you will call them. I block those numbers but they find others to call from.
Same thing here with the IRS lawsuit. I called them and told them to please call me at my work number in 15 minutes so I could cooperate further as that is where I keep all my records. I gave them the local Sheriff's office number :-) I hope they called.
