We have also received calls from this area code (names used: Christopher Daniel and Brad). We informed them that we would call them back and requested their number. I called Microsoft directly informing them of these calls and gave the number above as a direct link to these so called Microsoft employees.
I received a call from an unknown number. The guy says his name is Gary from technical suppport of Windows and says i have malicious software on my computer that he will help me get rid of. I asked for his return number and he gives 206-203-5477. I ask him how he go my number (which is a home number but my account is under my business and I never leave my home #). He claims that is what we have on file??
I decide Im going to play along a little to see if I can get some info so I can report these guys so I ask what I need to do to get this malware off my computer but first ask to speak with his supervisor as I am having a hard time understanding his thick accent (Pakistani?). Another guy comes on the phone, but with a deeper accent. I ask this guy what the next step is. You can tell he gets all excited now because he thinks he has me duped. he says to press my windows key and 'R' at the same time (which I know brings up the Run dialouge box). I pretend to do this and then start getting a little inquisitive by asking where he is calling from and what the weather is like in Seattle right now. He says its around 25celcius (but the states uses Fehrenheit) and nice - but I checked the weather and it was raining. Hilarious!!!
Anyhow, I told him it was obvious they were calling from overseas and to stop harrassing people. he then came back with a bunch of expletives and hung up.
