But these guys solved my computer problem and they didn't charged me for this. My computer is running like a new one, they are very kind and they are not scammers i am pretty sure because scammers never fix someone's computer for free.
This person works for whatever criminal outfit is making these calls. I receive them on a regular basis, and have established beyond a shadow of a doubt that the calls are criminal. The phone number in this thread is a seattle area number that has been disconnected. If these guys call you just hang up, they're idiots.
Same story as everyone else...This guy with heavy accent calls stating he is from Microsoft tech and that my computer is heavily infected and I have to do something FAST before my computer crashes irreparably. I ask where is he located, having noticed the call display, and he answers Seattle Washington. I happen to know that Seattle is the capital of scam call centers but I thought it was mostly imposters for dating sites. I decide to go along and see...At first, I show that I am skeptical and ask for proof that he is legit. He gives me a CTRL+R and type in CMD where he proceeds to read out my CLS code...The indications for me to go into eventvwr and look at administrative events...asks me how many error messages are quoted. I play along. THen, the real purpose of the call...to SELL me a solution to delete all these error messages and prevent future ones for the next 2 years!
When I refuse to purchase anything from him, he starts with the pressure tactics...how I need to act quickly before my computer crashes and such. I request a callback number that I will be happy to use once my IT guy at work validates his alleged threat. He tells me local tech guys will not be aware of this. I respond by telling him that the choice is his, either he gives me a callback toll free number or I hang up. He speaks to someone in a foreign language and comes back on the phone with this number which is not the one on the call display. I 'thank' him and hang up.
Beware!
