Same as others, sometimes I mess with them and keep them busy as long as possible and others I just tell them I do not even have a computer, they are simply scam fools.
just received a call from this number stating someone was downloading my files....I asked where he was from and he stated he worked for windows and I told him he was full of it and hung up! Creepy!
A woman with a strange accent called me from this number. My caller ID traced the number to Egypt. When she asked if it was ok to talk to me about my computer, I immediatly hung up. The federal police is warning everyone about these practices.
This guy called my house from 206-555-0100 at 6:30 in the morning and was speaking with my husband, who barely knows how to check his emails let-a-lone anything else about computers... so the guy convinced him he was from microsoft and that his computer was sending errors to them and that his drivers were down so his computer would not work. My husband unknowing that this was a scam, went and connected the guy to his computer AND informed the guy that we have another computer in the house... the guy right away told him that it was affecting BOTH computers and then he 'took over' my husbands computer and "showed" him that the drivers were down etc... my husband was on the phone with him for an hour and was absolutely convinced that this was legit, and they guy asked for a credit card number... my husband put him on hold and luckily i got home from work just before he gave him any credit information... I grabbed the phone and hung it up right away... He called right back from 206-555-0114 and i answered and told the guy that if there was an issue with my computer i would take it to a computer repair store and have them fix it in person then i hung up. He called back a third time right after i hung up, this time the number was 971-555-0129 and i didn't answer... he tried twice more then finally quit calling. When i went to turn off my husbands computer his Notepad program had been loaded with three messages typed: 1) hello? 2) are you there 3) answer me please.
This person needs to be stopped, there are a lot of nieve people out there who will easily fall for this scam like my husband did. I am just happy he didn't get any credit information before i got home from work.
Fellow just called, heavy South Asian accent, said his name was "Edward", claimed to be from Microsoft and that my computer is sending them error reports. I told him there was some mistake, that I've neither sent nor received error reports, that I'd gotten calls like this before, and asked him please not to call again. He raised his voice. Not sure what he said. I hung up. Disturbing.
