Same as others, sometimes I mess with them and keep them busy as long as possible and others I just tell them I do not even have a computer, they are simply scam fools.
Got 2 calls today. They said they were with Microsoft & that my computer was downloading bad files. My computer will start running slower every time I use it until I get the blue screen. I asked how come it doesn't tell me that I am downloading corrupt files. He said that it won't but if I turn my computer on, then he can tell me where to go & stop it from doing it. I said I wasn't going to do that & tell him anything cause I think you are the scammer here not the computer & don't ever call me again. Both calls were from India accented men.
Mess with him. Tell him you're really lonely and want someone to talk to. Then talk -- a lot. Tell him you're rich and don't know what to do with all your money and repeat it over and over. Whenever he asks a question, tell him a joke instead of the answer. If he asks for your SS#, Google 'richard nixon social security number.' Tell him someone's at the door and set the phone down. Tell him you got fleas from your cat and go into detail about how much the bites itch. Cry. Giggle uncontrollably.
I just got a call from this number from an individual with a thick Indian accent using the same "I'm from Microsoft" scam. When I told him I knew it was a scam and was calling the FBI they promptly hung up.
I absolutely love your sense of humor. I think I'll add to it...sounds like fun. Hey, what the heck, they're trying to get something (money!) from us, why not mess with them?
Here's how my calls started: I have family in WA (which is the only reason I picked up on this one as I know the area code is from WA). I received a call from 206-555-0100 and as soon as I picked up, a recording started and I hung up.
Immediately, another call came in from 1-971-555-0129 and I didn't answer.
Half hour later I get a call from 971-555-0129 (notice there's no "1" on this #) again, I didn't answer.
Thirteen minutes go by and I get a call from 206-555-0114, I hit "Ignore"; immediately, I get a call back from this same # and I hit "Ignore" again.
18 mins. later, same # and I hit "Ignore".
Oh, they must have gone to lunch! 1 hr. and 18 mins. later, can you believe it, same # and I hit "Ignore".
10 mins. later, same # and I hit "Ignore".
They must be getting tired of being ignored from that # so they revert back to calling from the very first #: 206-555-0100, and I hit "Ignore"
Do you think they'll call back? I can't wait to play games with them!
I received a call from 1-206-397-1127 - said his name was Ray Flock, was calling from Windows because I had reported error to them. I questioned him about being from windows and he assured me he was and just wanted to help me fix my problem. Told me to hold down the windows key and R together. Type: Event VWR - delete. Then www.ammyy.com, then enter. I did type eventvwr, applications - check for errors. Asked him again about windows (I was feeling uneasy and told him I needed to talk to my son before I did anything. He got almost angry. When he called back around 9 PM, I did not answer but the call was from 1-206-555-0100. I tried to call bhe number back but got dir. asst WA (Was charged on my phone bill for directory assistance call).
On 12/21/13, I received another call from "windows" 1-000-000-000. Said he was calling about error message on computer. Told him I was busy, said he would call back in 15 mins. Told him he needed to talk to my son. Told him he would be home around 9 PM - said where he lived, he would be home in bed. (I CALLED WINDOWS 1-800-234-1689 AND REPORTED THE CALL)
