Well, apparently they are back at it again. I got a phone call for an interview and I was so excited as I have been wanting to leave my current job that I jumped right on it. The office as everyone said was a complete mess. The window sills were full of dust and everything seemed thrown together. They were blaring music and had shades pulled on all of the glass doors and windows. I got a phone call from 314-828-7493. Hopefully more people research on this fake company instead of wasting time and money. I was told to call back at 5:30 to see if I got another interview. Connie told everyone the same thing. Show up at noon plan on being there for 2 hours, bring a notebook and pen, show up a few minutes early, and dress nice (told the guys to wear ties) I heard her tell all of the applicants the same thing when they called her back. Things seemed suspicious the moment you walked through the door.
i had received a phone call from the 314828 phone number. It was a girl named Heather that called me to schedule my interview. She answered the phone stating the company was called "American". They called me at 10 in the morning and wanted me to come in for an interview at noon. which i found kind of odd, most places usually schedule your interview for the following day. So i used tons of gas to show up to the interview. When i arrived at the building the first thing i noticed was the sign in the window saying "American" was not even lit up and all the blinds on the windows were closed. Then over the front dooor they had a big piece of paper covering the glass. When i walked in i noticed the carpet was really dirty and like everyone else said they music blaring and about three other people there for interviews. The biggest thing that i found odd was the fact that it was supposed to be a "business" office and there was not a computer in sight! Kinda weird.
And like everyone else i was promised 35k a year and my own office. Me being in desperate need of a good paying job, i put my suspitions aside and got excited about the job offer. I called back at 4 and was told to come in the next day at noon for a second interview, and to bring pen and paper and it would be two hours long.
Well excited about the news i called my mom to tell her hte news. right away she was suspitious and decided to do a little research....and here we are! i really am happy that i had someone watch out for me and warn me about this scam before i put time and money into a job that didnt even exist.because i cant afford either one. so thank you everyone for your comments and warnings. i usually dont post stuff on the internet, but i know how crappy in felt to get so excited about something and then to realize it was all too good to be true! so had to tell me story as well.
So to all of you out there, your best bet is to look for jobs in hte newspaper or actually go to the building and apply. 95% of jobs on craigslist are scams. so just save yourself the time and disappointment.

Ashley, I too got a voicemail from Heather today around 10:30 or so. I wasn't able to call back until after 1 pm as I had an interview for a "real job" today. When I did call back, she said they got my resume and liked it and I was like cool and politely asked if they use a recruiting company or something, as I don't remember apply to "American Manufacturing" or whatever. She said she didn't know. They said the job was for an office manager, which I thought was a bit suspect, I was shocked to be offered a management position without even contacting these people myself. It was for M-F 9-5, I was asked if I had a car so that I could open and close up the office everyday. They wanted me to come in for an interview right away, but before I would commit, I wanted to know what the general starting wage might be. She again said she didn't know, was just making the calls. Well I told her I'd get back to her, cuz quite frankly, I live in St. Charles and I'm not going all the way out to Gravois Road without even knowing what the starting wage is, it could've been 8.00 an hour for all I know. So good thing I decided to check this out and see for sure that I didn't miss anything. Sorry that you guys all wasted time and gas, but if it makes you feel any better, you helped somebody else out by saving them time and gas.
Got a call from Rebecca awhile back to go to "American" on Gravois. Well, obviously they only call it "American" so you can't Google it successfully. Long story short, the minute I heard perfume sales in the interview, I told April she should be absolutely ashamed of herself and the company and walked out of the interview and took my hard copy of my resume back (not gonna waste paper and ink on them). Unfortunately, these companies run rampant in this area. I went to Burlington Coat Factory and was running in because it was cold and I had a newborn and the employees practically chased me to the front door. Obviously they didn't remember me when I came out because they practically try to get into the car with you! Plus, in this area of STL, we can't afford $40 on fake perfume anyway.
