Criminals buy pieces of paper with people's information on them. It might be from an old bank or car loan that was paid off and you might have been listed on there. Or they might have gotten the information from some place that was hacked. In any case, put a fraud watch on your credit reports at the three major credit bureaus. Also If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS. Samen company just called me and left a nasty vkicemail and called my house phone and spoke with my husband and also threatened to have me thrown in jail except the number was 213-262-8368 needless to say I called them back and left them a message stating that I was taking it to the States Attorney tomorrow.
I just got this exact message . Glad to see it's just a scam. Seemed really shady to me, as the lady had to pause in the middle of the message to give the phone number .
