Caller claimed Citi bank fraud department was calling me to check on a credit card application. I already have two Citi Cards and did not receive a text or email from Citi. So i called Citi and they said they did not contact me and I should report the person who called me.
Actually it was Citizen MasterCard calling to confirm a transaction.
But call back with the 800 number on the back of your credit card and you can't be scammed.
I had a call from this number today, claiming to be Citi Financial, with whom I do have credit through a home appliance store. I was skeptical about its validity and did a quick google search to see what others had to say about this number. After reading some of these posts, I opted to call Citi directly with the number on my customer card as opposed to calling the number stated in the voicemail I was left. Citi retail services verified that it was a legitimate call and explained the reason for the call, which was to confirm that I received the items I paid for and was satisfied with the overall service. Everything was fine, so if you do get a call from this number it is legitimate, but if you are skeptical just call the company directly like I did.
Received a call today stating they were from citi bank fraud dept in reference to a Sears MasterCard and fraudulent activity. Do not give them any answers. Why hasn't this number been taken down yet??
I got my 3rd call on my cell phone today from 423-467-6460, informing me that they needed more information in order to process my request. They definitely say "Citi" and gives me a number to call, a long security number and an application number. I did call them once and the first thing they wanted was my SS#. I said "no way" and hung up. Tonight, I called Sears since their card has Citi on it. The lady was wonderful. She said I would never get a call from Citi. If there is a problem with my Sears account or card, it will be Sears that will call me. Just beware....I confirmed that this is a scam call.
