Got a call from Asset Acceptance asking for a person that does not live here.
The call was from an automated system, and it's message was recorded by my answering machine.
Included in the long-winded message was "By continuing to listen you are acknowledging that you are [name of person]". Such a statement is ridiculous. The message said to call "Donald Wilson" at 1-877-692-6188.
I called the number and specifically asked for "Donald Wilson" but (according to the representative) such a person was not on the internal phone directory - meaning no such person exists. A obvious (and as far as I know) unlawful deception.
I have been getting other calls asking for a person with the same name. Everytime I try to get information on where my (unlisted) phone number was acquired, they say it's "private information" and they won't disclose how they got it. That means that the calls stop only for the length of time it takes for the next collection agency to get the information. That means more calls are sure to occur in the future, from other debt collectors.
calls for Andrew N Cassis multiple times per day. We've had our phone number for over 10 years and have no knowledge of who Andrew N Cassis is...I tried to call them back to let them know they have the wrong number, it just rings and rings.
kept calling and calling all hours... finally answered and they must be a collection service looking for the same person who was named on some "official" letters of collection. Whoever this person is, they have found a name in a phone book or online to send their collectors.. lucky me !!! I will be reporting this number to the phone company or BBB if they don't stop calling here. LUKE SMITH identified himself on the other side and said, "the person listed this as a working contact number". Then the doof asked if I knew this person or why they would list this number.. seriously??? moron. LOL.
