Got a call from Asset Acceptance asking for a person that does not live here.
The call was from an automated system, and it's message was recorded by my answering machine.
Included in the long-winded message was "By continuing to listen you are acknowledging that you are [name of person]". Such a statement is ridiculous. The message said to call "Donald Wilson" at 1-877-692-6188.
I called the number and specifically asked for "Donald Wilson" but (according to the representative) such a person was not on the internal phone directory - meaning no such person exists. A obvious (and as far as I know) unlawful deception.
I have been getting other calls asking for a person with the same name. Everytime I try to get information on where my (unlisted) phone number was acquired, they say it's "private information" and they won't disclose how they got it. That means that the calls stop only for the length of time it takes for the next collection agency to get the information. That means more calls are sure to occur in the future, from other debt collectors.
These people are idiots. They have been calling 1-5 times per day for years to a number that has been DISCONNECTED for years. They need to upgrade their phone system to the 21st Century. But I guess there is no money being in collections.
Poor widdle Asset Acceptance is not doing so well. Closing some offices. Laying off. Cutting expenses. We are praying and wishing they go belly up. Filthy, filthy, filthy miscreants.
"Cowection efforts pweviously housed in the Clevewand office will be twansferred to other offices throughout the company's cowections network", said Wion Needs, pwesident and CEO (Chief Excrement Orderly) of Asset Acceptance, in a statement.
This number is a machine that checking to see if someone answers and at what time, recording that information. Then a machine will call back at those times knowing likelihood of someone answering, with a person to take the call if you answer. Asset Acceptance is a dept collector and this call showed up at Washington DC.
