just got this message.
i called them and they wanted my email, then put me on hold and told me what was wrong with my iPad. i asked him how he did this and he said through my email and then hacked into the system...i don't think he was supposed to say that word. But after giving him my email i immediately regretted it and asked for a superior to see what he'd say. He told me he was the only supervisor--not surprising. He told me it would cost $80.
I reset and cleared and rebooted. I hope they just wanted a credit card number and can't hack into my iPad!
I called back to ask where he was located and if I should tell the authorities his name when I contact them for the scam and he hung up. I hope having my phone number and email isn't enough to do any real damage!
Same happened to my phone, my safari freezed and i couldn't take out unless i call the number on the screen. I called them and asked if they could mirror my mom hone they can diagnose the problem. Then the guy told me if there's some issues I need to pay. Then i told him I'm going to ask at&t first. And he said they can fix cause this is a technical issue, they just provide internet connection. Ihang up the phone. After that my safari was working again. I don't know if i got hacked.
I also got a message with this telephone number to call to clear up the problem. Luckily I was skeptical and decided to search it on the Internet. Found 800notes and ; solved! Thanks Mr Erwin.
BEWARE!!!! Got this pop up (even w third party pop ups etc blocked an the phone) yesterday. It wouldn't allow me to go any further. Luckily I knew enough not to call but I had some fun w them anyway! Called the number w a *67 n gave them a fake serial number - immediately they told me the phone was out of software warranty n for 120 bucks they could fix it. Help me spread the word about this big scam. They tried make me believe I was talking to apple! But after some prodding they told me the company is instatech - yeah right!
