just got this message.
i called them and they wanted my email, then put me on hold and told me what was wrong with my iPad. i asked him how he did this and he said through my email and then hacked into the system...i don't think he was supposed to say that word. But after giving him my email i immediately regretted it and asked for a superior to see what he'd say. He told me he was the only supervisor--not surprising. He told me it would cost $80.
I reset and cleared and rebooted. I hope they just wanted a credit card number and can't hack into my iPad!
I called back to ask where he was located and if I should tell the authorities his name when I contact them for the scam and he hung up. I hope having my phone number and email isn't enough to do any real damage!
I called the number before googling and finding this forum and the recommended solution, which worked. When I called, I was put on hold, which gave me time to think, "what am I doing?" and hang up. Now I'm wondering. They have my phone number. Does this make my phone vulnerable in any way, other than a scam phone call?
Pop up on my ipad, froze safari, indicated a number to to get fixed 747-360-4447. Went to settings, safari, pressed clear history and web site data done. I checked and had already set pop-ups to off........
