just got this message.
i called them and they wanted my email, then put me on hold and told me what was wrong with my iPad. i asked him how he did this and he said through my email and then hacked into the system...i don't think he was supposed to say that word. But after giving him my email i immediately regretted it and asked for a superior to see what he'd say. He told me he was the only supervisor--not surprising. He told me it would cost $80.
I reset and cleared and rebooted. I hope they just wanted a credit card number and can't hack into my iPad!
I called back to ask where he was located and if I should tell the authorities his name when I contact them for the scam and he hung up. I hope having my phone number and email isn't enough to do any real damage!
A relative got this on the iPad; I do not know enough about clearing cookies on an iPad, though I do it frequently on the desktop/laptop. Will go into settings and see if I can find something for Safari.
It worked; there is a Safari section in Settings. I cleared cookies, history; did NOT call the number. Safari opened with no problem. I think Facebook was the only password stored; changed it (of necessity; we did not remember it).
My iPhone Safari crashed and I called the number. They said it was a software issue and I had to pay 59.99 to fix it. I said I would bring it back to my provider but he insisted on telling me I did not have insurance on phone so I would have to pay it. I then googled it and found out this was a fraud company but not before I have them my apple I.d.
