Being on a do not call list means nothing at all. Just a make work project. They call robotically, which I thought was banned here years ago. They can't do anything if they are calling from another country. Most of these people are, and just use a Canadian number. They called my cellphone, I just add each spam number to my rejected list.
Called at dinner hour on Friday. Caller did not speak when phone was answered. Phoned them back and was treated to scripted sales pitch for "Reliance Security Alarms" for the home. Asked if he knew there was another company called Reliance that sells alarm services. He tried to change the subject to Reliance Water Heaters, which I imagine is another company he does phone marketing for. Then told him I was amazed he was calling, as we already use Reliance Alarms. He said he was from a promotional department at a call centre, suggesting this was simply another robocall. Despite being inconvenient and annoying, he was polite and sounded like a legitimate telemarketer just trying to do his job. We find Reliance Alarms is an affordable, reliable service.
