Today I came home and saw that I received 6 calls from (718) 713-8226. THe caller was an Male with an Indian/Pakistani accent. He stated that this was an automated message from the IRS tax Audit Department. The moment you read this message ( note he said read when it was a voice mail) Don't disregard this message. If I don't hear from you or your attorney all I can do is wish you good luck as this situation unfolds against you. We have received a legal petition against your name. Before things worse or get out of hand call us back immediately at (718) 713-8226. I realized that this was a Brooklyn NY number and he was a phony but many others may not.
Received a call from (718) 713-8226. I let it go to voicemail and the message I received from a man with an Indian accent was as follows: "this is an automated message from the IRS tax Audit Department. The moment you read this message, call me back. Don't disregard this message. If I don't hear from you or your attorney all I can do is wish you good luck as this situation unfolds against you. I googled the number first and found this blog. I will not be calling that number back. The IRS always communicates by mail. I called the IRS hotline and due to heavy call volume was advised to report incident online at tigta.gov. There is a red box in the top right of that page 'IRS impersonation scam reporting'. Remember, never give personal information over the phone.
GOT CALLED TWICE BY THIS NUMBER. ITS OBVIOUSLY A RECORDING. FUNNY THING, I WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT DEALING WITH TAXES. I'VE OWED THE IRS MONEY BEFORE, THEY SEND A LETTER THAN YOU CALL THEM TO SET UP A PAYMENT PLAN. THEY ARE COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL. NOTHING LIKE THIS GUY. THE THREATING TOWARDS THE END WAS THE TIP OFF. THATS NOT HOW THE GOVERNMENT DOES BUSINESS. MAKES ME MAD THINKING OF THE POOR DEPERATE PEOLPE WHO HAVE TO BE FALLING FOR THIS.
