This 740-834-4000 Called today and asked for my two, dear friends who have both been deceased for over three years! Not sure how MY number got associated with THEIR names but this was very disconcerting!
I politely (well maybe not so politely) told the caller to REMOVE the number she called (she couldn't tell me what it was) from her list and stop for a moment and say a little prayer for my tow deceased friends.
She went right on with her pitch, as I was hanging up the phone!
citi bank was the caller about a home depot credit card I had applied for. They just wanted to make sure it was me that made the request for the credit card.
Just got a call from this number - no one on the other end - some faint background music that lasted for about 15 seconds - then the line disconnected.
I got home and found a message on my phone that they were Citicard calling and I should call regarding my account. They left another number to call 1-866-299-2421 which is supposed to be the Citibank Fraud unit. When I called them it routed to the philipines and the person asked for my card number and last four of SS. After providing I got particulary upset because they had no record of making a call to me and didn't find anything on my account. I said I didn't know who they were and was concerned that I had just given them personal information. I then called the number on the back of my citicard and they verified the 866 number was their fraud unit and had record of I having spoken to them but still doesn't explain why I got the original call. Be very careful hard to tell if they have a way to pick up information on your line after you call a number. Damn crazy hackers who knows what went down !!!!
I received a call from the number above regarding a Macys account. Apparently my account as well as others was compromised. The account had to be closed. I called Macys and they confirmed that there was a compromised.
