Got a call from this person, clearly with an Indian accent. Trying to force me to do things on my computer because
'your computer has been hacked and we need to help you get it fixed'
I asked for details and he gave me this name Secure Data Lab. There is no such company.
Luckily I have the knowledge to not agree to his demands.
Received a call today from a man with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be from Windows. I insisted over and over again that I never requested a service from them and told him he must have the wrong number. He said that Windows sends out a message and then he calls. I listened to him at first but he wanted me to run some application at which point I hung up. Every couple of minutes I keep getting calls from an Unknown Caller or Private Number, I assume from the same people but I haven't been answering.
An Indian accented person tried to tell me that he was from the Windows Technical Department and that my computer was sending error messages. He wanted to walk me through the Event Viewer on my computer to prove that there were error messages. He said it was proof that hackers were trying to access the information on my computer. He then asked me to go to a web site: www.tech40.net. He also wanted me to click on a link to an executable file. When I said no, I don't want to run any executable programs, he said that I had nothing to worry about because I would be on the computer with him, and could just turn off my computer if anything went wrong. I said, "Naw, it sounds like a scam to me." And he replied, "Your father is a scam artist." He hung up without another word after that.
