They called and hung up. When I returned the call, they asked if I was covered by an insurance company. I did not say "yes" or "no." They asked to confirm my address. I did not confirm. I repeatedly asked them how I might be of service. They would not tell me why they were calling.
I did get an email from Humana offering this in-home nurse visit. I did not respond and did request this service.
Far as I'm concerned, this is yet more intrusive nosing around by insurance companies to collect data on your living environment, whether you smoke, drink, own animals, etc.
I have a doctor who takes care of medications, personal needs, etc.
This call came in around 9am on a Saturday. The gentleman ID'ed as Matrix working for Humana and then hung up.
This is Humana's Matrix program. They keep calling and won't leave a number though. I feel they want to make an appointment for the RN to come to the home and do a personal evaluation of the patient and the medications. Did this for another of my "charges" and it was worthwhile.
My in-laws receive a weekly visit from a Humana RN. She is AMAZING and if she's of no benefit to my in-laws because of their stubbornness and non-compliance, she has been an INVALUABLE resource for me personally because of her reliable visits and feedback to me. Her program is called Senior Bridge. It used to be High Chronic Care Program (HCCP).
I was personally present for an assessment of the same nature for my mother-in-law. We reviewed ALL her medications, did the vitals, chatted about her needs. It lasted no more than an hour, then it was over, SHE never returned, but did mail a complete report of the visit. There was no casing of the joint. I DO think, as someone else mentioned, that the insurance companies receive "points" for this kind of thing. I take all the help I can get with these two elders!! Advice is advice --- take it or leave it. Some is very helpful. We managed to make some changes in medication times which was very helpful. That one year, we went through a meds review with pharmacists with Humana, CVS and Kroger! Would I personally choose Humana?? No. But it's what THEY have and can't change. The Senior Bridge program is AMAZING. A RN visit 1Xweek to come in and chat about what's going on --- then she has permission to pass it along to family. Then we can deal with it!
