They keep trying to get through to us, but it never works. My guess is they're using a robo-dialer, and said dialer does not like the 'Out of Service (SIT) tone sequence our Asterisk system sends (same thing the old 'Telezapper' did) when it first answers. The dialer's probably hanging up on its own.
Some Googling turned up a possible lead on these slime-suckers at this link.
We have received calls from "Tech Support" for several weeks, several times per day. We have repeatedly told them to stop calling. I filed a complained with DNC today, hopefully that'll help. My phone company, Frontier Communications, wasn't very helpful as they will only do something if you receive threatening or harrassing calls.
they called here today, caller id came up as V07121039270009, I answered and heard a bunch of people talking in the background. Said hello 3 times, then hung up
I've received calls from this number almost every dat for the last month. I don't recognize the number, so I let the answering machine pick up. They never leave any message, just hang up.
My number is on the do not call list, so I filed an FCC complaint today; I'm getting tired of the unsolicited calls from this number.
I also get calls from this number several times a day for weeks at a time. If I answer and someone is actually on the line, they speak with an unrecognizable accent asking to verify a business I have never heard of. When I ask them to remove my number, they just keep on and on....
Sometimes, there is no one on the line if I answer. When I try to call the number back, I get a busy circuit number or the line just goes dead.
Really get tired of this mess and wish someone would do something about it.
I am on DNC list, filed complaints a couple times during the last year, stops the calls for a few weeks, then they start up again!!!
This appears to be a company in Florida, possibly doing business under the name, "Tech Support." Most likely, it is a phone cramming operation trying to trick you into agreeing to a monthy recurring charge for web site design, voice mail or some ohter phony service they never actually deliver. The heavy accent and untelligible babble are most likely part of the ruse to try to tick you into agreeing.
The name, "Tech Support," is a further obfuscation. Probably a lot of customers would not notice a small recurring charge on their bills. If they did notice, they might conclude that the line item is some sort of mandatory free for technical support from the phone company, rather than a third party named, "Tech Support," charging for a non-existent service.
Your best bet is to hang up on these scumbags without saying anything, or to block the call. Please, by all means, take a few minutes to fill out the FCC on-line 1088D complaint form on this slimeball operation.
