Same heavy east indian accented woman called my wife today. She could hardly understand her, but she asked about our Windows computer.... The big laugh, we have a Mac! They are up to something....
They called me from this number and 971-217-9514 and left a recorded voice mail. They said they wanted to give me a stimulus of $2800 to purchase a new car. Her name was Elana and she was from the Samsung/Mazda dealership. I believe this to be a scam!
I also received a call today saying he was from windows7 and that there were problems om my computer so he would like me to turn on my computer so he could fix these problems. I then said how do I know you are from windows 7, he hung up. The number was 971-217-9508 and caller id said it was home security.
Heavy Indian accent. Sounds like he is on a cell phone driving fast with all the windows down! Can barely make out what he is saying? Wants me to go access my computer due to some virus taking over windows that my anti virus software wont detect, as a matter of fact this mystery virus will alter and manipulate my antivirus software! Good Lord! I can only imagine how many people are out there that buy into this crap! NEVER give anyone any info if they have called you!! Dont you think we all would have heard of a "FIX" out there on CNN or MSN? If it really is Windows that has a problem needing fixing, Microsoft would have put their own word out due to the fact that would affect almost everyone in the free world!
Freaking scammers. "Windows Security Center North Vancouver". They want you to enter assoc command that creates an output including the line with a CLSID, which they claim is unique for every computer. This number is always the same - 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062.
