I called the Federal Trade Commission and was told these people are nothing but scam artists trying to get your social security number and/or credit card number.
DON'T GIVE THIS INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. THEY ARE FAKES.
Continue to report them to the Federal Trade Commission in you area.
The more seconds they can register for you phone #, the more money they can get when they SELL YOUR NUMBER!! You're just making more and more $$$ for them. Just "pick-up & hang-up" on them. No answer, no time, - no $$.
Called yesterday and today. No message was left. I'm on do not call list. Strangely, they allowed "LOWER INTEREST" to show up on the caller ID. Without that, it's just a phone number. With that, I can easily identify it as a scam and as a violation of do not call, as I don't do business with "Lower Interest."
It's the upteenth "Lower Interest Rate" call I have received over the last two months. I called the number, received an automated answer to leave my number to be put on the do not call list. I will be reporting this to the FCC next.
The caller ID was displayed as what appears to be a random number. "V08311112190005". Here they offered to reduce our power bils.
So, between my call and what's written here, 1-971-220-1788 offers the following catch lines:
1. reducting a power bill
2. reducing credit card rates
3. refinancing
