I got ripped off $700 from Benchcraft Company. Robert Harpham (probably fake name) called me and said that they were designing golf guides for a local golf course - Sunridge Golf Course in Northern Nevada. He charged me $350 for advertising in one golf course guidebook. I sent him all the info that I wanted in the ad. Tyler O'Dell (probably another fake name) called back a couple days later and said he was having a special - 2 years for the price of one at another local course - Genoa Lakes . I naively agreed to the 2nd offer, also. I thought I would look them up on the Internet, which I should have done before I ordered, to check if they received any complaints with the Better Business Bureau. I saw numerous complaints that were filed against the company saying that they keep delaying delivery of the golf course guide and never provide the finished product. I called back Tyler O'Dell and asked to speak with his manager. He put me on hold for several minutes and then got back on the phone and tried to disguise his voice as the manager. I told him that he was pretending to be the manager and I told him that I wanted to cancel the golf guide orders and get a refund. Then he started calling me all sorts of names. I reported them, but I don't think anything happened with my complaint. I just received a call from their number today so they are continuing to try to screw people. Other numbers include 800-824-8311 ext. 252, 425-293-6919, 503-596-2465, and 503-858-7299.
BigA,
We don't work on a percentage basis. We guarantee a dollar amount for the season that the coach and athletic director agree to. That way, even if no sponsorships are sold, the team still has money they can count on. If you have a specific school you're wondering about, I'm happy to provide those numbers.
We search our phone numbers to make sure that there are no misconceptions about who we are or what we do. Even if sponsoring a team isn't for you, you should be informed before making any business decisions.
Thanks,
Meredith Kelley
So you claim that you guarantee a dollar amount? But if no sponsorships are sold you give them the money anyway? So you would be taking a loss? How bit of a loss? Give me one school, where they are located, and the amount you claim you gave them and the amount of the sponsorships you sold. Should be easy for me to call that school up and verify what you have told me.
There are certainly some schools where we take a loss, especially when you factor in the costs of producing the media guide.
We have a partial list of schools we work with on our website, GoGamedayMedia.com. It's easiest to contact the coach since we work directly with them.
You didn't give me the information I requested. So there would be no point in calling up the school. I would need to verify the amounts to give me and compare them to what the coach tells me they received. I also want to see what the percentage is that you donate as compared to what you take in. most companies keep 80 to 95% of what they take in which is a bit excessive for what you might call "expenses", which are basically just making phone calls.
