Nick Cart called me stating he was an officer, and said I had to pay 725.00 out of court fees, or 6000.00 in court fees. He started harrasing me. I had called the BBB in New Jersey, and they have no record on the phone no, or the company he was calling from ( American Law Division. ) BBB will start a full investegation on them. However, I need to know what I can do legally before I have to change my phone number again.

You need to also call the Federal Trade Commission as well as your state's attorney general's office.

I received the same call. Well actually this place (a man named Samuel Bishop) called my employer and told them I was in serious legal trouble and had to call him right away. My boss told me that the man was very rude and he couldn't understnad his accent. I called the man back (his accent sounded indian or middle eastern-could not understand him at all) He had all of my personal information which scared me to death. He said I had to pay a debt of a payday loan which I supposedly defaulted on in 2008 (which I never took out in the first place). He said if I setteled it out of court it would be almost $1000 and if I settled in court it would be over $5000. I panicked and called a family memeber for help and they said it was a scam. they tried to call this company back (which i think called themselved American Law Division) and the first time they hung up on them. When my family member called them back they wouldnt tell them anything. I tried to get the man to explain who it was from but he never said who it was from or why i never recieved a bill or statment. I called the BBB to file a report. The lady I spoke to said first, they broke the law telling my employer that i was in serious legal trouble, Two: I have every right to a mailed bill or something showing I actually owe money. She stated that this is most likely a scam. She informed me to call the Federal Trade Commision which I did. The FTC will be looking into it as well. I am also in the process of calling the State Attourney General as well.

So I called the State Attourney General's office and spoke to someone. They said these guys from American Law Divsion are a scam (They also use other alias' that are stated above in other posts). They broke into some database online (Ace Debit or something) and stole the information. They are NOT a real debt collection agency and will use harressing tactics to scare you. They used threats of arresting me and informing my employer of allegations against me (which they CANNOT do). My state's (Colorado) Attourney General said that they have MANY complaints about these guys and they are in the process of investigating them.
Remeber: You have a right to get everything in writting before you pay anything to anyone. DO NOT PAY A DIME OVER THE PHONE AND DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. These guys are located in New Jersey, Florida, Colorado and California. If they continue to call I was informed to file a complaint with my local police agency.

By the way, the posts above saying that they were dragged to court by these guys becuase they were rude to them is false. That person probably works for these scammers and is trying to scare you.
