I got a call like this yesterday on my work phone, and told him to call my cell but his name was nick, and he actually used the words i'm going to f*^# you, now i know there is noooo collection agency that would use that language. and he did say he was calling from american law division
Mr. Jeff called me from this number. He told me to address him as officer Hamilton. He called me degrading things and was very dominating. I'm only 19 years old and was kind of scared so I just kept saying yes sir to what ever he said. He told me that if I don't pay my $300.00 credit card bill, that I would be showering naked with other men in jail. I feel better since I read this page, but I still am kind of scared and feel terrible. I told him I would try to get an advance on my pay check from my boss so I can pay him, and he said he better have the money in his hand by friday or else.
Did you receive anything in writing that was mailed to you?? That is the only official notification of a problem. It is also ILLEGAL to make threats (jail) and pay or else. Phone calls mean NOTHING!! It is also illegal to claim to be a police officer if you are not (and I doubt he is).
Report him to your state attorney general.
Read "Lamet's" comments a few posts above yours. There is plenty of information on this scam.
Pay no attention to this extortion scammer or worry about him. The ploy is to scare you into a state of panic so you'll quick fork over money for a nonexistent debt. The threatening and bullying demeanor proves Officer Jeff Hamilton is a fraud and there's no need to get an advance on your paycheck. If you're worried about it, phone your CC company from the number on your card and make sure all is well. You can also ask if they know anything of this impostor if you wish.
This so called Atty, Officer, and Judge David Brown is committing so many felonies if he were actually get caught he would be in prison for a very long time. I reported this guy to my local law enforcement and he called me from another number that I did not recognize. Anyone can buy a disposable cell phone and claim to be a public official. This name matches several public officials. Do not bother trying to track this guy down. It would be a waste of time. There are numerous persons with the same name. If he claims to represent a company or govt agency, call these companies directly. If you owe them a debt, they would let you know. Do not bother sending money to this scam artist.
