I got the same message about being under federal investigation and that I need to return the call immediately. I've heard about this before. It's a scam.
If the IRS was trying to contact you for a payment, they're not going to call you and tell you that you have to pay a fee immediately. I've messed up my taxes before and they send you a letter informing you of a discrepancy and give you an opportunity to correct it.
According to the female voice on the message, I am under investigation by IRS. Woo hoo! I'll be sure to call them right back with my credit card and bank information before the forclose on the house I rent or through me into a Peruvian jail.
said they were the IRS, I am under investigation for tax evasion, my citizenship was in question, do not ignore the call, call them back or I'll get a time out, etc. etc. - Between all the personal and business phones I have, I pay thousands of dollars to the phone company that is allowing this waste of my time. The communications conglomerates that allow this outrage to continually disrupt the lives of the people who fund them by criminals using their equipment should be held accountable.
