The caller i.d. says "Vonage," but the number is not a Vonage hosted number. Can you say "spoof?" That is the first clue. The caller is claiming to offer Vonage adapters, and then asks for security information. My account shows that I have purchased more adapters than I have numbers. If this was Vonage calling they already know that I have a Vonage number so this wouldn't have to be verified. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM.
It's not Vonage. It is hosted by Windstream Communications. I know the called ID says "vonage," but they spoofed the name. It is a SCAM. DON'T ANSWER. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I am a Vonage customer so they would have left me a message.
Reading another site like this one, if you answer they will claim to be Vonage and will want your pin number and other personal information, saying they will send you a free adapter. If you give them the info they will take control of your Vonage number/s.
I just got a call from this number, caller ID says "Vonage'. As soon as I answered they hung up. I've been reading the other replies here. I'm also a Vonage customer and plan to call their customer service and let them know they are being scammed too!
It is Vonage marketing - a department that is specific for existing Vonage customers (Sales is for new customers only). I called Vonage Customer Service and verified this with them. There is no way to call them directly (except perhaps through this number itself but I haven't tried). They are probably calling for a promotion of some sort.
